Waiting for the Deep-White Conditions

So is it me, or do you too always feel like you are in the middle of your own conflict once November hits? Like me, do you wish for more mild autumn days while also secretly wishing for the winter snow to arrive? Let it fall, let it fall, let it fall, I want to ski already is all I can keep hearing in the back of my mind knowing that holiday and other vacations need to be planned and soon to arrive. Yeah, it is nice to know that Keystone in Summit County Colorado is open already with a few hundred acres of skiing, but we all know that is the teaser for the real season. Will there be another La Nina with record setting snow fall and midwinter conditions for the December Christmas and New Year holidays? Most believe it is going to be another epic season and I hope they are right.

If you haven't been to Keystone Resort recently, you can take advantage of some terrific vacation condo rentals for your lodging that are walking distance to both River Run and Mountain House base areas. The new 8-person Gondola is a smooth ride with loading and unloading at mid-mountain between the base and Keystone Mountain peak. Speaking of new lifts, A-Basin right up the road has added some high speed too, in addition to the mid-mountain lodge from a couple of years ago.

It's that much harder to wait for the snow with all the continuous improvements and easy access and promotions like the Epic Pass from Vail Resorts. Not sure how many times you can make check that all the equipment is ready and not scattered in the garage or basement, but at least the snow reports have begun - they always seem to act like a bread crumb trail trickling in early on and then arriving with regularity as the snow builds.

So, let go of the warm days, and start thinking Snow!
We still have availability for the New Year Weekend Fri-Monday Keystone condo rental. If interested, please visit at http://www.GreatRentalKeystone.com/

Post 1 - a new year

Keystone Condo Rental - River Run Keystone Resort - www.GreatrentalKeystone.com

I am acting upon my new year resolution to finally create and post a blog about Keystone Resort and vacation condo rentals. This is my 3rd winter season offering my Keystone condo for rent. Just to be upfront, one of the motives behind this blog is to promote this beautiful 4br 4ba large condo as a great vacation condo rental at Keystone Resort in Summit County Colorado. However, the other important intention is to provide miscellaneous useful information for other vacationers coming to Keystone Resort. All information is also relavent to people wanting to ski at A-Basin (Arapahoe Basin) as we are the closest lodging and condo rental accomodations being only 3 miles away at Keystone.

I’ll start with some Restaurant suggestions for the higher end dining experiences – all based on first hand experience with my family and friends:
High End Recommendations:
Keystone Ranch – gourmet fixed price, multiple course dining and a elegant rustic atmosphere. Highlights include the food and the special couch-around-the-hearth dessert experience. Call Keystone resort reservations.
Der Fondue Chessel – bring your appetite (and I thought I was a big eater) – 4 courses of food – large delicious salad, cheese fondue (white or cheddar), meat/fish grill fondue, chocolate fondue dessert (milk or dark). The restaurant is in the Outpost Lodge – 30 minutes and two gondola rides from River Run Village – return trip can get chilly but they do provide wool blankets in the gondolas – tidbit: remember to carry your blanket from first to second gondola. The food was excellent and there was a live roving “Germanic” band. Call Keystone resort reservations. Kids are equally welcome and are half price.
Samplings (in Frisco) – excellent food with extensive wine list. Despite small portions even for a tapas style restaurant, we continue to return for more good food and know to order enough “samplings”.
The Mint (in Silverthorne) – best prime rib in the county and by many other standards. The Mint is known for the all you can eat, prime rib dinner that runs about $30. They also have a fine selection of steaks that you grill yourself. For some reason, their salad bar is always a standout mostly because it is perfectly chilled and fresh versus any gourmet selections. Very casual dining.

Moderate Dining Recommendations:
Ruby Tuesday (in Dillon) – yes it is a chain restaurant but the burgers are big and juicy. They also have a small salad bar and the veggies were nice and crisp.
Pug Ryan’s Steak House and Brewery (in Dillon) - very broad food selection but can get very crowded (30-60 minute weekend waits). Large portions and good food – I highly recommend the rib combo (beef and pork). Good microbrew beers to go with everything.

That’s all for now on the restaurants near Keystone. Plenty of others, but will list another time.

GreatRental Keystone Vacation Condo Rental:
As far as our condo, it is located in The Gateway Mountain Lodge at the entrance to River Run at Keystone Resort. The building is chuck full of amenities with virtually unlimited underground heated parking, indoor pool and large common hot tub, Breeze ski shop for convenient equipment rentals (they have really high end equipment for rent too), a sports café with decent foot and lots of TVs for games, a Serenity day spa, and a kids arcade with over 20 games.

My condo is a 4br 4ba large 2200sq ft Penthouse unit with two floors. It sleeps up to 13+ people comfortably and includes a fully stocked kitchen, washer drier, free wireless broadband internet, and all linens and towels (just to let our northeastern friends know not to bring their own linens). You can do the 4 minute walk to Keystone River Run from our condo, or the free shuttle comes by 6x per hour to pick up the guests / renters at The Gateway. We offer very competitive lodging and rental rates for both winter skiing, and all the summer activities. We also offer 20% equipment rental discounts and lift ticket discount access to our condo renters.
